Northwind Coffee Roasters opens third roastery and doubles wholesale capacity
Northwind Coffee Roasters, the Portland-based wholesale coffee company, opened its third roastery this week, doubling production capacity for cafes, grocers, and office accounts across the Pacific Northwest. The 12,000-square-foot plant on SE Division Street begins roasting on 8 September.
Founded in 2014, Northwind supplies 210 wholesale accounts. The new line adds two 30-kilo roasters and a dedicated sample-roast bench, taking weekly output from 6,000 kg to 12,000 kg. The company now employs 48 people, including 11 roasting and packing roles created for the site.
“Wholesale partners have been asking for more volume and a shorter lead time,” said founder Maya Chen. “This plant lets us say yes without stretching the two rooms we started in.”
